Design of the Year - gov.uk

posted 18 Apr 2013, 01:16 by Jim Cuthbert
Congratuations to our client, the Government Digital Service, for winning not only the Digital Award at the Design Museum Designs of the Year Awards 2013, but also the main Design of the Year award for the gov.uk website.
Who would have thought any part of the Civil Service would win a design award, far less a unit of the Cabinet Office?
GDS may be government, but not as we know it.  It's mission to connect with citizens is driving a revolution across government in the relationship with people.  GDS's commitment to good design is central to their successful approach to digital communications.  They are also up for awards for the content writing - good design and quality content.  Next will be new transactional services simplifying the business of dealing with government.
Not everyone will be "digital by default", but by automating the relationship for the majority, it saves money and frees precious resources for those who need personal contact.
